Cultivate a Sense of Connectedness
-
- Everyone you meet in your life - even total strangers - is already intimately connected to you. The idea that we are all separate and distinct beings is nothing but an illusion. We are all parts of a larger whole, like individual cells in a body.

It’s easy in our hectic world to set aside our spiritual lives as something separate from ourselves. It’s this fundamental belief that tunes out the spiritual guidance that is readily available to each of us. In our minds, spirituality is something that we work on in our spare time… a hobby, so to speak. This is humorous to me because I have been there myself. However, it occurred to me as I grew spiritually that I am living in a world of energy, of spirit. The idea that I should work on exploring and knowing this world on a part-time basis seemed unsatisfactory to me.
It wasn’t easy at first but I began to take time each day to feel myself connected to my own life, and to the lives of the people I encounter. This connection was a new awareness to me since before I felt like an observer of my own life and not a participant, and certainly not something that I felt ‘connected to’ in any real way. As my awareness of living in a spiritually connected world grew, another benefit appeared; I began to take greater responsibility for my actions (and inactions).
For me, part of my psychic development process was to learn how to listen to spiritual guidance which helped me to make better decisions, which helped me to trust the process of listening to spirit, which helped me to become aware of even greater guidance, leading me to make better decisions which ultimately lead to even better outcomes. This is the spiral of spiritual growth and connection, one that you can only experience by taking your first steps.
Find time in your daily life, say 5 minutes, to cultivate a Sense of Connectedness. Let your mind ponder the idea that you are not simply observing your life but that you are, in some way, participating in a greater spiritual experience; and that you are not alone ever but surrounded by an energy (God, Spirit, The Universe… etc) which wants to guide you and counsel you, if only you take the time to listen. With each passing day as your sense of connectedness grows, you will hear more and more the subtle, and sometimes not so subtle, voice of spirit guiding you to a life filled with greater peace, harmony and abundance.
You don’t have to leave your everyday life and sit on a mountaintop contemplating your navel to receive the benefits of knowing spirit. Incorporating a few simple daily practices can really put your spiritual development into overdrive.
